Tamsin and John Denham visit South Cheshire College

Together with John Denham, Labour’s Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, Tamsin met local apprentices at South Cheshire College . Tamsin Dunwoody said:
“Like my mum, I want to see young people in Crewe and Nantwich prosper. The apprentices I met today have a bright future ahead of them.
“I know that businesses in Crewe are already reaping the rewards of training apprentices. Government gives financial support to companies which take on apprentices and the business gets an extra skilled pair of hands to help them prosper. John Denham, Labour’s Secretary of State for Skills, said: “I’m delighted to support Tamsin Dunwoody’s campaign and have seen her determination to support the employers and young people of Crewe to make the most of our investment in apprenticeships. Just like her mum, she wants to stand up for the people of Crewe and Nantwich.
“Labour has invested to help the people of Crewe get the skills they need to get on in work and to build better lives for themselves and their families. Not only are we pledging to support 1 in 5 young people to undertake an apprenticeship: we are also rebuilding the facilities in which people will learn in the town.
“Edward Timpson’s Tories don’t understand the importance of giving people the opportunities to increase their skills to get on in work and in life.

Labour has already rescued apprenticeships after years of neglect from the Tories. Labour has doubled the number of apprenticeships and nearly trebled their completion rate.
