What will the 'Hug-a-hoodie' Tories NOT promise on crime today?

Labour in Crewe today challenged Tory leader David Cameron and Crewe and Nantwich candidate Edward Timpson to come clean on their policies on crime and anti-social behaviour, saying another day NOT promising action is not good enough.

Crewe residents were underwhelmed last week when David Cameron was quizzed by local resident David Burns on the Tory’s policy on the 10p tax. David Cameron admitted when asked whether he would restore the tax band “I can’t promise that”.

Labour’s campaign spokesman Rob Flello MP said:

“The Tories can’t have it both ways. It is laughable that they think it's ok to base their campaign on an issue on which they refuse to promise anything themselves. The people of Crewe see right through them and their cynical 10p con, as exposed last week by straight talking local resident David Burns. How dare they try to trick Crewe and Nantwich residents in this way?

“We have heard before from David Cameron that his answer on fighting yobs on our streets is to hug-a-hoodie, but what action will he NOT promise to tackle crime here in Crewe and Nantwich?

“Within 24 hours of being selected Tamsin Dunwoody has produced an action plan for tackling anti-social behaviour and getting the pride back in Crewe . The Tory boy has come up with nothing in the 12 months he’s been the Tory candidate.

“I challenge David Cameron and Tory Boy Edward Timpson to come clean. Today will they promise NOT to stop automatic early release of dangerous offenders and NOT to crack down on disorderly drinking?

“Time and again they have been soft on crime and I urge the Tories in Crewe today to own up to their shameful policies.

“People here in Crewe and Nantwich know that this is a choice about who will be the best MP for the area. Tamsin Dunwoody is a straight talking fighter, just like her mum. Unlike the Tory boy from Tarporley, she is a woman of action who will get things done.”
